Your son or daughter is considering joining EDGE Corps®, a 1-2 year college ministry experience in which he or she will be trained to mentor students, develop leaders, direct teams, and build community, all with the hope of spreading the Gospel to students. This internship provides an opportunity to see lives changed in a powerful way and participate in that process, while also growing the interns (“EDGErs”) themselves into strong and effective leaders for God’s Kingdom.
You may have a lot of questions about EDGE Corps®, and we would love to answer those. Below are some responses to frequently asked questions, but if you don’t find what you’re looking for, feel free to contact us.
As a ministry of The Navigators®, EDGE Corps® is an initiative committed to training and developing young leaders by teaming them on campuses throughout the country. They reach out with the love of Christ to students who are spiritually hungry and looking for answers to life's questions.
These recent college graduates set aside one or two years of their lives to be meaningfully involved in the lives of students on campus. In return, working with seasoned Navigator leaders, they receive training and experience that will impact them and others for a lifetime.
The Navigators® is an international, interdenominational Christian ministry established in 1933 as an outreach for followers of Jesus Christ to help others come to know and grow in Him as they navigate through life – a goal embodied by The Navigators motto, “to Know Christ and to Make Him Known®.”
Navigators are characterized by an eagerness to introduce Jesus to those who don't know Him, a passion to see those who do know Jesus deepen their relationship with Him, and a commitment to training Jesus' followers to continue this nurturing process among the people they know. We are a community of hundreds of thousands of everyday people who impact others for God's glory in our normal pathways of life where we study, live, work, and play.
We spread the Good News of Jesus Christ by establishing life-on-life mentoring—or discipling—relationships with them, equipping them to make an impact on those around them for God's glory.

College is a critical time, and this generation of students faces more moral, ethical and spiritual decisions than any generation before it. As they wrestle with family breakdown, hopelessness and moral drift, students are in the midst of making major life decisions. Through the EDGE Corps® young men and women have the opportunity to make a difference in their world.
EDGErs receive valuable leadership training. The program involves taking initiative, creative thinking and problem solving as well as considerable people skills. These are many of the skills potential employers will be looking for.
The following is an example of what your son or daughter may put on his or her resume at the end of the year with EDGE Corps®:
The Navigators, EDGE Corps®
Campus ministry focused on leadership & personal development in the lives of students.
-Initiated development and training programs for students.
-Effectively identified and developed potential student leaders.
-Raised over $33,000 for personal budget.
-Traveled to Norway with a team for a five-week project to train student leaders.
-Counseled and mentored students in decision-making and character issues.
Yes, because The Navigators® is a non-profit organization, all EDGErs are responsible for raising their annual budgets through the donations of friends, churches and businesses. They will receive thorough and practical training in fund-raising. Because of the initiative needed and responsibility taken, the skills learned in fund-raising are some of the most helpful for the future.
Training begins in May or June in Colorado Springs. The remainder of the summer is used for fund-raising full time. The EDGErs then arrive on their target campus one to two weeks before the fall semester begins. The first year ends after a third training summit in early summer. Some EDGErs choose to participate in a cross-cultural experience after the third training summit. Participants can extend their EDGE Corps® experience for a second year, and in several cases they can transition into long-term service with The Navigators.
EDGE Corps® teams are assigned to campuses around the country based on the strategic needs of the campus and region. Placement decisions are made by our regional leaders and the EDGE Corps office. EDGE campuses are located all across the U.S.
"Close enough to comfort or confront, to replace self with Christ. That's the stuff of which The Navigators are made. And that's the stuff that changed my life."
- Dr. Charles Swindoll, founder and senior pastor-teacher of Stonebriar Community Church in Frisco, Texas
"On a scale of one to ten, I place The Navigators as a 'ten' among para-church ministries today. In my college days, The Navigators taught me the value of a disciplined life. In our Crusades, they developed the unsurpassed follow-up methods we use today. Thank God for The Navigators."
- Billy Graham
"I'm indebted to The Navigators. They have had such a faithful ministry over the years. You always know that The Navigators do things right. You always know that their discipleship courses are biblically solid and that the people are well trained."
- Chuck Colson, Founder of Prison Fellowship Ministries
"I am very thankful for the ministry that the Navigators have had in my life and ministry for the past 25 years. Both their staff and their publications have enriched my life. I am grateful for the privilege God has given me to minister to their staff on a number of occasions, and count it an honor to recommend them."
- Dr. Mark L. Bailey, President of Dallas Theological Seminary
"Navigators have had a huge impact in my life; I gave my life to Christ in college and the witness of The Navigators and their dynamic materials have provided a great foundation for my Christian life. As the founder of FOCUS, The Navigator staff has been a great resource to me and to my staff as we too seek to reach a generation of young leaders with the Gospel of Jesus Christ."
- Curtis Martin, Founder of FOCUS (Fellowship of Catholic University Students)
"My husband and I have been so pleased by our daughter's experience in Navigators at an Ivy League College. The weekly Navigator worship services, as well as the Christian friends she has met through these gatherings, have kept her Christian walk strong. We would recommend Navigators to any parent."
- Diane S. Passno, Sr. Vice President at Focus on the Family
"I'm glad to say that our daughter was actively involved with the Navigators during her years in University. Through the Bible studies and informal social interaction, she met other students who were serious about their faith and commitment to Christian priorities. I see the Navigators as a rudder that helps students navigate their way through the unpredictable shoals of their college experience. Great ministry. Great impact."
- Dr. Erwin W. Lutzer, Senior Pastor of The Moody Church, Chicago
"Our son, Tim, became involved his freshman year with an organization called 'Navigators.' Who were the 'Navigators'? An obvious concern was 'cults.' Was this one? In due time, all of our concerns were alleviated. We have spent time with many of Tim's Navigator friends, and we have yet to find one we didn't like and/or admire."
- Bob and Susie Bastian, Former Member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives
"Without exception, I have found the individuals involved with the Navigators to be of outstanding character and to have a caring quality not found everywhere in the world today. I have found the Navigators to consistently and faithfully instill Biblical values and Christian morals in a very effective way. As a parent, I would be very proud to have my child involved with this fine ministry."
- Charles E. Grassley, Iowa Senator - United States Senate
